To each his own. To me my own.

25 October

Yesterday was nice. After a quiet weekend at home, I decided I needed to actually get out and about at least once over the weekend. So I called up Mom and we went down to a neighboring town to a mall to do a little window shopping.

I’ll start by saying I hate malls. I mean, I really do. Most women love malls – but I only go to them when I absolutely have to. This is usually once a year, at Christmas. Any other time that warrants a mall, I’ll make the trek down to this sweet little neighboring town. The Galleria is just what it is – a one-level mall that has a Belk, Sears and JCPenney. It is minus a slew of other stores the other huge malls offer, but pretty much offers all the ones I need, so I always gravitate there. We had some good mom and daughter time.

Later on that evening, my heart came over and we went out to eat at Cracker Barrel. I must admit I have missed him terribly this weekend – that old saying ‘distance makes the heart grow fonder’ is a gross understatement.

On to a brand new week… and I hope everyone has a comfortable and undemanding one. 🙂

  1. Thank you for your well wishes. I hope your week will be rewarding and will include seeing your good friend K again. I am not a shopper. I must be forced by great need and even then I hate it. If I go to a Mall, let it be to enjoy the food court, the book store, and the exercise. If I have to shop, it’s ruined for me; well, unless I find what I need quickly and precisely. Ha! Blessings, Bonnie…

I’m not a shopper either, Carol Ann. Even if I have a bit extra to spend, it has to be an extra-special something that gets me going. But like you, I do enjoy the food courts! 🙂 Those times of finding something in record speed do tend to be rare. Blessings to you, my dear friend.

WOW Bon! I thought I was the only woman on Earth who doesn’t like malls!! I think I’ve been to the mall one time in the last 4 or 5 years. I went into two stores. Sears for a new washer and dryer and Body Works for sugar scrub. Now, I do go to Walmart every thursday and I can get pretty much everything I need there. Ed goes to Harris Teeter for freah veggies and meats. Now Eddie would say that I LOVE to shop and he HATES going to Walmart but if I loved shopping so much, why would I go to just one store for eveything I need? Food, makeup, clothes, books….everything. So if he thinks I love to shop then so be it but he has no idea just how much most women do shop! I have a friend that goes to the mall EVERYDAY! I’m happy to hear that there are women that hate malls as much as I do!! 🙂 I hope you have a nice, easy going week yourself. 🙂

Helen I’m feeling better now just knowing I’m not alone in the dislike of shopping in malls. I’ve never felt ‘comfortable’ in them, really. I often think it might be different if I had the stores to myself without the crowds, haha! Walmart does rock, doesn’t it? I frequent the stores myself. They just built/opened a new one here in LKW and it’s awesome – it’s new, bright and clean, and the ratio of employees to customers is astounding. Everyone’s excited to help you there, it seems like they even hunt you down. It’s unreal, makes me wonder if they’re paying these people more or something? 🙂 It’s SO refreshing that I don’t expect it to last, I’d love to be proven wrong though! I’m not the only one who’s noticed it. If you haven’t been yet, you’ve gotta go – it’s surely not far! I used to only hit the TC one until this one opened last month. Blessings to you!

    bonnie–
    I HATE MALLS, TOO! I hate shopping…
one day, when I am rich, I will have a doppelganer found for me that can go and try on bras, jeans, shirts, shoes…and also shop for my children, and do all my holiday shopping, and grocery shopping.
    hate it.
LOVE the cracker barrel, though…we havent’ been to one of those since moving away from Alabama years and years ago…

glad your weekend was restful, and here’s to a quiet week, dear one.

Ahhh, another fellow female mall-hater. I’m actually starting to feel a little more normal now. I do love the idea of the doppelganer! 🙂 As my beloved grandmother used to say, ‘When my ship comes in…’
      Blessings to you, sweet Jane.
